Head of Engagement and Influencing

We are hiring key new senior leadership roles in our team.

We are seeking creative, strategic and values-aligned leaders to come and work with us on Collaboration for Impact’s next horizon.

About Collaboration for Impact

For over ten years Collaboration for Impact (CFI) has been working towards a vision for an equitable and inclusive society where people, place and planet thrive.

Our underpinning belief is that for society to be more equitable, then how we create our future society need to be equitable. This means we focus on making the rules, mindsets and practices for how we create social change more equitable, collaborative and systemic.

We are a non-government organisation working in partnership with communities and other networks across the country to:

  • Partner with collaborations seeking to transform systems to strengthen, learn and demonstrate what is possible.
  • Catalyse and support platforms for connection, learning and collective action across community to wider system interventions.
  • Influence and help organisations networks and organisations learn to work systemically on issues of national importance.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Collaboration for Impact’s (CFI) national influencing and engagement agenda in ways that shift narratives, power and mindsets on how social change happens.

We are seeking a creative and politically astute systems thinker to lead our engagement and influencing work. Ultimately, to grow the field and ecosystem that supports, elevates and grows place based collaborative change and system change initiatives and work.

You key accountabilities will be:

  • Developing, implementing and leading the CFI Engagement and Influencing strategy, including; thought leadership, public communications and engagement; and policy national influencing and engagement .
  • Provide strategic leadership to the organisation through playing an active role on the leadership team
  • Establish research and funding partnerships to enable a useful evidence base to inform collaborative influencing priorities and activities
  • Provide strategic direction to and oversight of CFIs public communications and engagement work for the purpose of field-building and mobilising a movement of change makers.
  • Build new revenue streams and management your business unit’s budget

You will lead the CFI Influencing Team and work closely with a wider team of highly experienced practitioners, researchers and networks of changemakers across the country.

What we need you to bring to the role:

  • Experience (5+ years) leading collaborative strategies and initiatives in the place based or systems-based change field, internationally or in Australia.
  • Experience (5-10 years) building and strengthening coalitions and alliances for influencing toward national change agendas.
  • An exceptional and demonstrated track record of building trusted relationships with senior public servants, philanthropic, community and other social change leaders.
  • Experience in creative, cross-disciplinary and political strategies for influencing narratives, policies and mindsets at a macro scale.
  • Experienced in leading a growing team or in a start-up initiative
  • Ability to manage and motivate people in complex and uncertain environments.

Whilst we do need a deeply experienced practitioner, thought leader and communicator for this “Lead” role, if you have the majority of the skills and relevant experience that we’ve outlined and you are on a trajectory of learning in the systems change field, we’d still like to hear from you.
